Scientists using the James Webb Space Telescope have found a star explosion called AT 2026abck. It may be one of the furthest ever seen. It happened about 1.15 billion years after the universe began.
The team thinks the light shows the explosion just four to ten days after it started. At its brightest, it was about eight billion times as bright as the sun. As the universe grows, it stretches the light. This makes the explosion look about six times slower to us.
The explosion may be much more powerful than most exploding stars. Scientists are not sure yet. They plan to watch it again to learn more about what happened.
