South Korea and Turkey signed an energy agreement on 3 November 2026. They will look at ways to pay for energy projects in Turkey. South Korea wants to help build Turkey’s planned second nuclear power station. The station will be in Sinop, on the Black Sea coast.
The Export-Import Bank of Korea and Turkey Nuclear Energy Inc signed the agreement. It followed talks in Seoul between the two countries’ presidents. The organisations will study possible ways to provide money. They will also form a group to share information.
Turkey has not chosen a partner for the power station. South Korean President Lee Jae Myung said work together on the project was going well. South Korea’s state electricity company, KEPCO, has already helped study the project. Experts are still checking its technical needs and costs.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said Turkey will consider how to pay for the station. It will also consider the cost of making electricity and the benefits for its economy. Turkey is also talking to other countries. Lee said the new agreement will help South Korean companies seek work on Turkish nuclear projects.
