Point Of Law wins the Melbourne Cup

The King and Queen's former horse won at Flemington. Horses trained by Ciaron Maher finished first, second and third.

Point Of Law won the Melbourne Cup at Flemington in Australia. The King and Queen owned the horse before. Ethan Brown rode him in the race. His trainer, Ciaron Maher, also trained the horses in second and third place.

Royal Supremacy ran fast and went far ahead early in the race. Maher trains this horse too. Brown stayed calm and waited on Point Of Law. Then his horse ran much faster and passed Royal Supremacy to win.

Zahrann finished second, almost the length of four horses behind the winner. Juja Kibo came third. Maher had seven horses in the race. His horses also finished fifth and sixth, with Royal Supremacy in fifth place.

Brown almost died in a fall at Flemington in 2023. Maher helped him return to riding and continued to support him. Point Of Law moved to Australia after new owners bought him. He won the Geelong Cup in his first race for them. Maher also won the Melbourne Cup with David Eustace in 2022, with a horse called Gold Trip.
