Anthropic, the company behind the Claude AI models, reported revenue of $16.8 billion for July to September 2026. Revenue, the money it receives from sales, rose by about 46% compared with the previous three months. The company plans to sell shares to the public in November, in a stock market listing that could value it at up to $2 trillion. However, sales growth slowed after revenue more than doubled between the first and second quarters.
In a separate announcement on Sunday, Anthropic proposed putting 5% of its shares into a new public benefit fund. The plan still needs approval from shareholders. The fund would belong entirely to Anthropic and could make large donations to non-profit organisations or payments directly to particular groups of people.
One possible focus is the effect of AI on jobs. Anthropic has already promised $200 million for research into how society can adapt to AI's economic effects. It said the new fund could support larger efforts if needed.
