Archaeologists have discovered a mud brick with a dog’s paw print at Tavsanli Hoyuk, a site in western Turkey. The dog left the mark about 4,000 years ago.
The brick was found among the broken remains of a house that dates from the Bronze Age. Made from mud, it preserves the shape of the animal’s foot.
Humans and dogs in this region have shared a close relationship for thousands of years. The ancient print is a physical trace of a dog from that long history.
